The role of the Tourism Advisory Committee is to offer input for programming and project planning; working with local attractions and hospitality partners to market Owatonna to conventions/meetings/tournaments and other events; develop the area as an appealing destination or pass-through location to area visitors. |

Goal
Maximize the viability of the Owatonna area as a travel destination.
Ongoing Strategies
- Develop and implement tourism marketing strategies that attract visitors to Owatonna
- Increase the lodging occupancy rate by 15% by the year 2013
- Educate businesses on the value of tourism and how it impacts the Owatonna economy
- Promote group sales to attract meetings to the area
- Continue to optimize, upgrade and promote tourism on the OACCT website and through marketing materials
- Conduct/update the feasibility study on the building of a convention center in the area
Participation:
If you would like to serve on the Tourism Advisory Committee, please contact the tourism office. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month, 1-2PM in the lower level of the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce offices. Anyone interested in Owatonna’s visitor industry is encouraged to attend.
